Temperature’s impact on heat exchangers

There are also certain standards when using heat exchangers, one of which is temperature. Too high or too low temperature is an impact on the equipment, and the leakage is a more common type of failure caused by temperature.

Effect of temperature on the gasket: The heat exchanger flange is made of oil-resistant asbestos rubber sheet. The gasket will be aged under a high temperature of 55 120 C for a long time, and the rubber will be lost due to the loss of elasticity.

Effect of temperature on material properties: The mechanical properties of the hook ring and the bolt are lowered in the high-temperature environment of 100 120°C for a long time, which causes the flange to reduce the amount of pressure on the gasket and cause a leak.

The temperature has a great influence on the stability of the heat exchanger, which changes the sealing surface of the flange, affecting the degree of sealing of the floating flange and causing leakage. Therefore, one must pay more attention to the temperature when using it.
